Trending…

When I was in Paris, my senior year in high school, I was dumb-founded with the fact that they put eggs on so many things. Including pizza. These days, eggs are everywhere. I have actually warmed up to the idea of poached eggs, sunny-side up eggs, and fried eggs.  Eggs Benedict are one of my favorite brunch items and Bi-Bim-Bap one of my favorite entrees. So when I saw that Memphis’s most famous burger joint had a burger showcasing a medium fried egg I thought why not?! I ordered the burger with out bacon, but they brought it out with it anyway.

Knowing that I didn’t want the bacon, one piece was nabbed- then the other!

Solo Strip of Bacon

I cannot fairly review this burger since I did not eat it as prepared. However, I think that the egg should have been cooked a little less in order to provide a sauce since this burger is served dry and sans cheese. The topping of sauteed mushrooms was delicious though! The burger was good and it is definitely bucket list worthy! But….

I had a bite of my husbands west coast burger and it was amazing! No question about what I’ll be ordering next time!

The list keeps on growing!!

What I’m Loving Wednesday!

Hey Everyone! Woohoo! It’s halfway through the work week! I’ll jump right in and share with you what I am loving on this cloudy Wednesday in Memphis.

My neighbor has a fig tree and this is one of the figs off of his tree. Check out the size of this fig!! I have never seen such a massive fruit!

These chips are awesome! They are gluten free and so so tasty! I love this with guacamole, chicken salad, or simply by itself!

When I was in the grocery store last week I got these from the bulk section for my mother and I to snack on that afternoon. I did not get very many because I was afraid they would be stale. They were not at all- they were actually delicious and some of the better yogurt covered pretzels that I have tasted.

Last week was T’s birthday and his mother made him this adorable cake! Wonder what the buzz is all about?? T is a beekeeper!!! He will guest post for you me one day and give you all a sneak peak into our hive!

A dear friend gave me a roll of lemon poppyseed shortbread as a happy last week. Not only was this the cutest idea EVER, but they were also light, buttery, and perfectly sweetened!!

Korean is with-out-a-doubt my favorite type of oriental food. This week I got to have a Korean feast cooked by one of my friends everything was exquisite and I could not help going back for more! (please excuse the football plate- that was my doing not hers!!)

If you know what this is- You may be wondering how an American has this on a post of things that she loves. You caught me- I did not at all love eating this Swedish confection- but I loved that I was brave enough to try it and the fun that I had such with some American & Swedish friends trying different candy from Sweden over Memorial Day weekend. This is basically salt encrusted licorice and it is impossible to explain all that your taste buds experience after you pop this little gem into your mouth. Whew! It was a once in a lifetime experience and probably something everyone should put on their bucket list!

That’s it for today! What are you loving on this last Wednesday of May?

Ultimate Cookie Book

A few years ago I purchased this book entitled “The Ultimate Cookie Book” and since then I dog-eared 1/3 of the recipes. This  recipe was recently crossed off my edible bucket list when I made them for a party I attended.

I found the cookie by itself to be slightly bland, so I made some cream cheese icing to spread on top then zested a lime over the top of each cookie. It not only made the cookies pretty, but is also perfectly completed the cookie!

This cook book is filled with drop cookies, holiday treats, slice & bake sweets, and more. If cookies are your thing, this book is a must have and the cookies are a nice variation from the ubiquitous sugar cookie.

Dreams come true

Some people dream of a day at the spa filled with pampering and a healthy lunch while others dream of lounging on an island with a fruity drink. My dreams are made of food and this specific one included baby artichokes.

Before getting married I did not know much about preparing artichokes or that baby artichokes even exisited. While I would never consider myself knowledgeable about the spiky vegetable- I would call myself a pretty big fan! Not having a specific plan for baby artichokes has preventing me from buying them over the last couple of years until last spring I was watching the Barefoot Contessa and saw Ina Garten and her friend fry up these! It took me a year to bite the bullet.

In addition to these cute sliders, I made these artichokes for my first cookout of the season. They were not difficult to make, but they did have quite a few steps. First I had to peel away some leaves.

Then cut them in half and trim off the tops.

Fry them in evoo, thyme, and garlic cloves.

While the artichokes fry, I made the yogurt sauce to go with them.

Dinner is served!

First cookout of the season

These were delicious & the side dish or appetizer to any meal! If you are one whose dreams are food-filled, like mine- I recommend adding this recipe to your edible bucket list!

Foodzie Friday: THE jam!

If you watched my Foodzie video unveiling the cookout themed Foodzie box, you probably gathered that inside was a jar of bacon jam. Not being a fan of bacon, I was sure that the spread would be repulsive and I would selflessly gift the remainder to my husband.

This was not the case! Foodzie blew me away once again! This bacon jam is not bottle bacon, rather the harmony and of sweet, salty, and smoky in spreadable form- bottled for your edible enjoyment and pleasure.

I hesitantly put a dot on the below slider, but after one taste I was an instantly a fan.

First cookout of the season

Happy Weekend!

Restaurant Review, Interim

If you have been ever been to Interim, chances are the menu has slightly evolved since your last visit. Interim is well-known for it’s mac & cheese, hamburgers, brunch, and desserts. Though they keep these favorites on their menu, the rest of the menu is dependent on what is seasonally available.

Recently some of the ladies in my family met there to Celebrate my sister’s birthday. We sat in the back of the restaurant in order to have a more private lunch. It is cool to sit in the main dining room though— the kitchen and the dining room are connected and you can watch the kitchen prepare your food- very cool!

We did not order any appetizers, but Interim starts off each table with a bread basket. The bread tasted like a combination of ciabatta and Sister Schubert rolls.

I ordered the egg salad on brioche with a side of cranberry and curry quinoa

My sister and Grandmother has truffle frites as their side. They said they were to die for, I tried one and was not impressed. however, I do not like french fries- so don’t trust me on this one :)

I ordered a cappuccino for dessert

The friendly staff at Interim treated my sister to one of the best desserts I have had in awhile. A chocolate molten cake with dark chocolate espresso sauce, house-made pralines, and vanilla bean gelato. YUM!

And because I am honest with my readers, I admit that after hyping up this dessert—- T took me back to get another. We went with the innocent intention of  sipping a few cappuccinos while sharing this uber-chocolatey dessert.

Repeat Offender

We sat down and glanced over the dessert menu, a new addition had been made—- Carrot Cake bread pudding with carrot gelato.

Can I say blown away!!! What a creative spin on bread pudding!

Congrats, Interim you won my allegiance ( yet again) so much so that I came twice in one week! FATTY LOYAL!!!
